Notes
to Author
1.General
The
Journal of the Korean Astronomical Society is open primarily to original contributions
from the entire domain of astronomy, astrophysics, and related fields. All papers
communicated for publication in the Journal are submitted to the scrutiny of
referees. Four issues of the Journal are published annually, which constitute
one volume, at the ends of March, June, September and December. Page charges
are levied on authors or their institutions.
2.Manuscripts
Manuscripts
for publication should be written in English, and processed by Latex or TeX.
The authors are asked to submit the manuscript to any of the editors by lectronic
mail. The Latex or TeX format for Journal can be obtained from the the homepage
of the KAS electronic journals. The manuscript should be written clearly and
concisely, and include a brief abstract which summarizes the principal points
of the article. Key words (up to five) for indexing purposes should be provided
following the abstract. Authors are encouraged to use SI units. Originals of
illustrations should also be submitted.
3.Illustrations
Figures and
graphs should be mentioned in the text and should also be numbered using arabic
numerals. On each figure, the top of the figure, name(s) of author(s) and the
figure number should be written lightly in soft pencil. A brief descriptive
legend should be provided for each figure; these legends should be typed in
sequence on manuscript paper, not on the figures. Original drawings and graphs
should be drawn with Indian ink on tracing material or smooth white board, or
drawn by laser printers using the graphic software. In preparing illustrations,
it is helpful to keep in mind that they are reduced. All drafting(lines, symbols,
ets.) should be done boldly enough to reproduce well after reduction. Photographs
should be clean glossy prints in sharp focus and as rich in contrast as possible.
4.Tables
Tables
should be coded with Latex or TeX. Each table should be numbered(use roman numerals)
and given a title and descriptive heading, and the units of the quantities
listed would be given at the heads of the columns.
5.References
The bibliography
should include only works referred to in the text. References should be listed
at the end of the paper in alphabetical order under the first author's name,
more than one reference to the same author or team of authors in chronological
order; more than one in the same year should have a,b,c added, as necessary.
References should contain the names and initials of all authors; year; the abbreviation
of the journal according to the IAU Astronomer's Handbook(1970); volume number;
first page. References to the literature in the text should be cited by the
author and year.
6. Proofs
and Reprints
Page proofs
will be sent to the authors for checking. Authors are liable for the cost of
alterations in excess of 10 percent of the original composition. Reprints up
to 50 copies will be supplied to the authors, free of charge.
