제목: Detection and localization of nearby fast radio bursts with BURSTT

초록: 

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration radio transients of predominantly extragalactic origin, providing powerful probes of compact object physics and the ionized baryon content of the Universe. Precise localization is key to identifying host galaxies and constraining the origins and environments of these events. The Bustling Universe Radio Survey Telescope in Taiwan (BURSTT) is a wide-field interferometric array designed for real-time FRB detection and rapid localization. It consists of 256 dipole antennas and multiple outrigger stations, including a site in PyeongChang, South Korea, enabling arcsecond-level localization through long baselines. Recent antenna upgrades have improved the system sensitivity and increased the detection rate. In this talk, I will present the BURSTT system and its FRB search strategy, including beamforming, dedispersion, and candidate identification. I will then show early observational results, highlighting FRB detections, and discuss the current performance in terms of sensitivity, sky coverage, and detection efficiency. Finally, I will discuss the potential of BURSTT to constrain FRB repetition rates and source properties, and briefly highlight additional science cases.
