Registration Open for the Korean Rubin Science Workshop 2026

지난 6월 30일 미국 루빈천문대(NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory)는 세계 최대 남반구 전천 탐사 사업 LSST(Legacy Survey of Space and Time)의 시작을 공식적으로 발표하였습니다. Simonyi 탐사전용 망원경에 장착된 세계 최대의 디지털카메라 LSSTCam을 이용한 첫 과학 등급(science-grade) 자료(Data Preview 2)도 지난 7월 마지막 주에 공개되었습니다. 한국천문연구원은 LSST 탐사 관측의 시작과 Rubin DP2 자료 공개에 맞추어 국내 학계의 관련 연구를 도모하고자 Korean Rubin Science Workshop 2026 (KRSW 2026)을 개최합니다. 본 워크숍을 통하여 국내 LSST 연구 개발 상황과 계획을 공유하고 초기 LSST 자료에 대한 이해를 높이는 기회를 마련하고자 하오니 많은 연구자분들의 관심과 참여를 부탁드립니다.

On June 30, the NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory officially announced the start of the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), the largest all-sky survey of the southern hemisphere to date. The first science-grade data products (Data Preview 2), obtained with LSSTCam were also released in the last week of July. To coincide with the start of LSST survey operations and the release of Rubin DP2, the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) is hosting the Korean Rubin Science Workshop 2026 (KRSW 2026) to promote related research within the Korean astronomical community. The workshop will provide an opportunity to share the current status and plans of LSST-related research in Korea and to deepen our understanding of the early LSST data. We warmly invite all interested researchers to attend and participate.
